Mid Western
Regional Council’s workshop team is looking for a Workshop Team Leader.
Mid-Western
owns and manages a large range of plant and vehicles, so we need a Workshop
Team Leader to ensure all plant, vehicles and equipment are serviced and
maintained in order to maximise efficiency and reduce downtime of plant.

Working with
the Workshop & Fleet Coordinator as your mentor and a friendly professional
team, you will take control of the
day to day operation of the Fleet Workshop and repairs and infield servicing is
undertaken effectively and safely, within the Council workshops and on site.
This is an opportunity
to stretch and develop your leadership, supervision and communication skills at
the same time as using your technical knowledge to ensure that the team meets
and completes the schedule of annual RTA inspections and RFS servicing as well
as the servicing requirements, repairs and maintenance to Council plant,
vehicles and equipment so that they are in line with manufacturer's
specifications, industry standards and safe work method statements.

the technical expertise to support and where necessary train, team members as
well as highly developed communication skills to ensure that your team of
tradesmen, contractor and/or apprentices are clear about what you want them to
do. You care that the highest quality
standards of workmanship are maintained by all. - You are
organised and able to keep everyone (above and below you) updated on the
progress of work tasks at the same time as ensuring that the paperwork and
systems are complete and up to date. A sense of humour and a willingness to roll
up your sleeves also comes in handy! - Above all you
take your responsibilities seriously whether this is the proper care and
operations of any plant or machinery; job training of apprentice plant mechanics,
limiting downtime or maintaining quality assurance.
You will need
(Essential Criteria):
- Experience
leading small teams in a mechanical workshop environment. - Certificate
III – Automotive Mechanical Technology (Heavy Vehicle Road Transport) or
equivalent. - MVRIC Licence
(Motor Mechanic). - Class C
Driver’s Licence. - Minimum three
(3) years’ experience in the servicing, maintenance and repair of a wide range
of plant, vehicle and equipment systems. - Efficient
skills in fault diagnosis and repairs to plant, vehicle and equipment systems. - Effective
oral and written communication skills, including records keeping. - Ability to
identify and satisfy customer’s needs – both internal and external customers. - Ability to
work as an effective team member. - Knowledge of
workplace health and safety responsibilities (and a commitment to attending
relevant WHS training).
The salary
range being offered for this position is $3212 - $3615 gross per fortnight
(dependent on skills, qualifications and experience) superannuation.
The successful
candidate will be required to undertake after-hours call out duty (on-call
roster)/ overtime when required as well as work at various council workshop
locations and sites within the region.
