The Mid-Western Region is located in the Central Tablelands of

As the Mid-Western Region continues to grow and prosper at a
steady rate, Council now employs over 500 staff members and has an exciting
opportunity for a full-time Human Resources Officer. This position is responsible for the coordination of human resources services including recruitment and
selection, new employee inductions, learning and development, performance management and exit
interviews to assist in the availability and effective use of Council’s workforce.

Key Accountabilities

  • To act as the professional and confidential first point of contact for all Human Resources enquiries, ensuring responses are timely and accurate and in line with Council’s core values. 
  • To advise, coach and assist the supervisors and managers, particularly in relation to performance management, recruitment and selection, learning and development and industrial relations;
  • To assist ensuring Council is compliant with respect to various employment and related legislative, regulatory and internal requirements;
  • Undertake administrative support functions throughout the organisation to facilitate staff movements and changes throughout;
  • Coordinate the recruitment and selection process end to end, ensuring integrity on the process and informed decision making;
  • Coordinate the onboarding and induction process for new employees following the completion of a successful recruitment process;
  • Collate and research relevant information to inform the training plan and budget, and coordinate the administration of the approved training plan, as well as any ad hoc training as required Facilitate the logistics and communication of employee engagement initiatives that includes training, induction, workshops, presentations and other events that are facilitated through the People and Performance Team.
  • To assist the Human Resources Coordinator with the implementation of Human Resources policies and procedures, and other Human Resources projects as required.
  • Contribute to delivering the annual performance appraisal process throughout the organisation.
  • Accurately track, record and report all information that flows through the Human Resources Team in an effective and efficient manner that captures key information and fosters open communication.
  • Participate in on the job training for staff as required;
  • Other reasonable duties as required as it relates to the core functions of this role;

To be successful in this role you will have

  • Certificate IV in Human Resources or equivalent qualification and/or experience
  • Experience in a generalist Human Resources environment, with particular emphasis on recruitment
    and selection, performance management and learning and development
  • General knowledge of employment-related legislation, industrial instruments and their application
  • Sound working knowledge of the Microsoft office suite of products including Word, Excel and
    PowerPoint
  • Current Driver’s licence
  • Ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks and activities in a fast-paced environment
  • Well-developed written and reporting skills
  • Strong and effective communicator with a diverse range of people

The salary range being offered for the position of Human Resources Officer is $3212 - $3615 gross per fortnight (dependent on skills, qualifications
and experience) plus superannuation, a RDO every 4 weeks and long service leave after 5 year.
