The Mid-Western Region is located in the Central Tablelands of
NSW, just over 3 hours from Sydney. With it being one of regional NSW's

As the Mid-Western Region continues to grow and prosper at a
steady rate, Council now employs over 500 staff members and has an exciting
opportunity for a full time Human Resources Coordinator. The purpose of this position is to lead the Human Resources
Team and to ensure the workforce has the capacity and skills required to
deliver positive outcomes for council, employees and the community by ensuring
the organisation can meet the objectives of the Community Strategic Plan.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop, implement, monitor and report on the workforce strategy and workplace plans to attract,
    develop, manage and retain talent to achieve Council’s Community Strategic Plan, Delivery Program
    and Operational Plan;
  • Lead and manage the Human Resources Team to ensure effective and compliant human resources
    practices including the employment lifecycle;
  • Use data from a variety of sources including employee engagement surveys, lead and manage the
    delivery of initiatives targeting an improvement in employee engagement, internal communications,
    and productivity;
  • Positively influence and advise the supervisors and managers, particularly in relation to performance
    management, recruitment and selection, learning and development and the implementation of
    Human Resources policies and procedures;
  • Provide timely, expert and pragmatic human resources operational and employee relations advice,
    support and coaching to the Human Resources Officers, managers and supervisors that facilitates
    constructive workplace relations;
  • Mediate in disputes/grievances where necessary and prepare and coordinate responses to employee
    relations complaints;
  • Manage the relationship between the leadership of the organisation and employee representative
    organisations;
  • Ensure Council is compliant with respect to various employment and related legislative, regulatory and internal requirements;
  • Assist the Manager People and Performance to research and develop strategies, new policies and
    procedures and work on HR projects as required;
  • Lead and manage Council’s Training and Development plans and programs;
  • Actively promote and demonstrate the core values and behavioural requirements of the Workplace
    Environment Statement.
  • Other duties as reasonably directed that aligns with the position’s core functions and capacity.

To be successful in this role you will have

  • Demonstrated experience in a generalist Human Resources environment, with particular emphasis
    on policy and procedure development, employee engagement, employee relations, internal
    communications, performance management and learning and development.
  • Degree qualification in Human Resources or equivalent qualification and/or experience.
  • Sound knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply employment-related legislation and
    industrial instruments.
  • Experience in dealing with unions, employer associations and industrial tribunals.
  • Sound working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks and activities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage and lead a team, providing high level advice, guidance and mentoring
  • Sound analytical, evaluation and problem solving skills.
  • Well-developed written and reporting skills.
  • Strong and effective communicator with a diverse range of people.
  • Current Class C Driver’s licence.
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety (WHS) responsibilities and a commitment to attending
    relevant WHS training.

The salary range being offered for the position of Human Resources Coordinator is per $3546 - $3990 fortnight (dependent on skills, qualifications
and experience) plus superannuation, an RDO every 4 weeks and
long service leave after 5 years.
