As a Workshop Mechanic, you will play a vital role in keeping Camden Council's fleet running at peak performance - repairing, maintaining and servicing a diverse range of heavy vehicles, major plant, operational equipment and light passenger vehicles.
Bringing well-developed diagnostic and mechanical skills, you will drive scheduled maintenance programs and ensure compliance with National Heavy Vehicle Regulations Chain of Responsibility, supporting teams across the organisation to deliver for our community

Essential:
- Relevant Trade Certificate (Motor, plant. or heavy Vehicle Mechanic)
- NSW Fair Trading - Tradesperson Certificate
- Previous experience in mechanical repair of heavy plant, trucks and equipment
- Previous experience in driving heavy rigid trucks
- Class HR driver licence
- WHS General Induction for Construction Work Certificate
- Experience in reading mechanical schematics
- Experience in investigating and diagnosing hydraulic problems and reading circuitry schematics
Desirable:
- Class HR Non Syncro Licence
- Experience in the repair of Hydraulic hoses and equipment
- Other trades certificates in plant and truck repair works
- Other relevant certificates and qualifications including forklift, crane, confined spaces, rigging/dogging and RMS vehicle inspections
- Previous experience in tyre fitting and repairs
- Welding Skills
- Previous experience in administrative tasks such as time keeping, keeping records and ordering parts and services
- Working from Heights
- Experience in roadside breakdown repairs
- Interpersonal and communication skills for working with and motivating a team
- Experience in using broad range of equipment including, but not limited to gas monitors and detectors
