Camden Council is seeking two experienced and motivated Recreation Planner Project Officers to join our high-performing Sport and Recreation team.
Reporting to the Team Leader Sport and Recreation Planning, these roles are responsible for leading the planning, development and scoping of open space, sport and recreation projects that respond to the needs of our growing community. You will play a key role in shaping the future of Camden through the preparation of plans, strategies and business cases, supported by evidence-based research, community consultation and stakeholder engagement.
Working across the organisation and with external partners, you will coordinate multidisciplinary inputs, manage project scoping and budgets, and ensure projects are aligned to Council's strategic objectives and Project Management Framework prior to handover for delivery.

Essential:
- Degree qualifications and relevant experience in Recreation, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Planning or equivalent related field
- Demonstrated relevant experience in sport and recreation planning and policy development
- Demonstrated experience in delivering passive and active recreation infrastructure
- Demonstrated experience in managing community and stakeholder engagement at various levels throughout the planning and design process
- Good analytical, creative thinking, negotiation, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills that lead to innovative and effective solutions in a changing environment
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to apply EEO, WHS and ethical practice principles and to act with probity at all times
Desirable:
- Experience delivering projects within a structured project management framework
- Experience in a local government environment
- Knowledge and understanding of legislative and regulatory frameworks
- Appropriate research, reporting and computer skills
- Demonstrated project and resource management skills
- Strong customer focus
