The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale is preparing to reopen the Watkins Road Waste Transfer Station and is seeking several enthusiastic and reliable Waste Transfer Station Operators to join our team.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new chapter for the facility from day one. Working as part of a close-knit team, you will help deliver an essential service to the community while supporting safe and environmentally responsible waste management practices.

About the Role

As a Waste Transfer Station Operator, you will assist with the day-to-day operation of the facility, ensuring customers receive excellent service while maintaining a safe, clean and compliant site. You'll work in a hands-on outdoor environment where no two days are the same.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assist with the day-to-day operations of the Waste Transfer Station.
• Operating plant and equipment, including Front-End Loader.
• Assisting customers with the correct disposal and recycling of waste materials.
• Supporting site traffic management and safe pedestrian movements.
• Maintain site cleanliness and presentation.
• Assist with the collection of illegally dumped waste throughout the Shire when required.
• Working collaboratively with customers, contractors and fellow team members.

Our preferred candidate will be able to demonstrate the following experiences and skillset:

• Accreditations and experience for operating role specific equipment such as: Front End Loader.
• Construction Induction Training Card (White / Blue Card).
• Basic Literacy and Numeracy skills.
• Good public relations and customer service skills

Previous experience working at a waste facility or in the waste industry would also be advantageous

The Important Stuff!

In addition to a base salary of $78,500 per annum, you'll receive weekend penalty rates for all Saturday and Sunday shifts, increasing the overall value of the remuneration package.

Work Schedule:

• Permanent full-time.
• Fixed roster of Thursday to Monday every week.
• Consistent weekday days off.
• Weekend penalty rates apply in accordance with the applicable industrial agreement.
