We are looking for a Planning Officer who is seeking the challenge of working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment within a growing Council. Whether you are experienced or looking to further develop your skills, this is a great opportunity to gain exposure across a broad range of planning matters.
You will be working to support the sustainable growth and development of the Shire, through the timely assessment of development applications and provision of professional planning advice, with a strong focus on customer service and teamwork.
The Role:
As the Planning Officer, you will carry out a wide variety of statutory planning duties across the Shire's diverse rural and urban environment. Some of your core functions include:
- Assess development applications within statutory timeframes and provide recommendations for determination
- Provide regular updates on the status of development applications
- Prepare reports on planning matters for Council
- Represent Council at the State Administrative Tribunal as required
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to provide planning advice and facilitate outcomes
You will also have the opportunity to work within a multi-disciplinary team environment and contribute to continuous improvement across planning processes and service delivery.
Our preferred candidate will be able to demonstrate the following experiences and skillset:
- A tertiary qualification or be working towards a qualification in Town Planning, or similar.
- Positive attitude and strong team focus.
- Experience in assessing development applications.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Clear concise report writing abilities.
