Are you an experienced regulatory professional who can investigate complex matters, communicate clearly and negotiate practical compliance outcomes? We want to hear from you.

We are seeking a confident and solutions-focused Statutory Enforcement Officer to join our Statutory Planning and Compliance team.

The Role:

In this role, you will provide guidance and enforce the planning and building framework, helping ensure development across the Shire complies with relevant legislation, approvals, policies and statutory requirements.

You will work with community members, developers, consultants, contractors, government bodies and internal technical teams. Your ability to investigate thoroughly, record evidence accurately and manage sensitive or challenging conversations professionally will be essential.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced local government regulatory professional who enjoys combining investigative work, stakeholder engagement and practical problem-solving to achieve positive compliance outcomes.

In this role, some of your key accountabilities will include:

• Investigate and respond to planning, development and building compliance matters in both a proactive and reactive manner.

• Research and review legislation, approvals, historical records and evidence to determine appropriate compliance action.

• Provide accurate written and verbal guidance to community members and other stakeholders about relevant statutory obligations.

• Negotiate with stakeholders to achieve compliance with approvals, legislation, policies and procedures.

• Prepare evidence, notices, reports and recommendations to support compliance action, including prosecution matters where required.

Key attributes we are looking for include:

• A minimum of two years' local government regulatory experience.

• Knowledge of planning and/or building legislation, statutory requirements and legal processes.

• Strong investigation, research, analysis and evidence-recording skills.

• Highly developed written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution.

• Excellent organisation and time management, with the ability to manage competing priorities.

• The ability to work collaboratively and independently with limited supervision.

• A valid C class driver's licence. Certificate IV in Local Government (Regulatory Services), development or building compliance experience, and TechnologyOne experience will be highly regarded.

An attractive salary of up to $87,232.00 per annum on offer dependent on experience.
