Waste Technical Officer (Ref: 1328) – Fixed Term

About the position:

The Waste Technical Officer provides technical and administrative support to ensure the efficient delivery of waste services. The role is responsible for maintaining system integrity, supporting accurate financial and contract administration, and coordinating contractor performance. The position contributes to service monitoring, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives, while managing customer enquiries and providing operational support. Working collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders, the role supports the delivery of reliable, compliant, and customer-focused waste services to the community.

This is a full-time, fixed-term parental leave cover contract for up to 12 months.

Key accountabilities:

  • Provide technical expertise for the administration and maintenance of the on-site point-of sale software and liaise with the software providers as required, to ensure accuracy and system integrity.
  • Ensure all waste financial reporting is reconciled, investigated, and corrected as required. This includes following up on incorrect customer transactions, refunds, and reimbursements.
  • Develop, implement and maintain waste services processes and procedures to support efficient service delivery
  • Prepare and manage requisitions and standing orders for the Waste Services team.

Position requirements:

The successful applicant will ideally hold a Diploma in Business or Administration, or possess a lesser qualification supported by relevant experience and a sound understanding of waste management within a local government. Experience in compiling and analysing reports, along with the ability to produce documents to a professional standard, will be highly regarded.

Completion of a pre-employment medical including alcohol and other substances testing is required of all positions at the City.

Remuneration and benefits:

A salary starting from $82,422 per annum or $41.7117 per hour will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
