Join a Critical Water Operations Team

Warrumbungle Shire Councilis seeking a full-timeTeam Leader Treatment Plants Northto join the Warrumbungle Water team based inCoonabarabran, NSW.

Reporting to theSupervisor WW Treatment Plants, this hands-on operational leadership role is responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, and compliance of Council’s northern water and sewer treatment infrastructure

This opportunity is ideally suited to an experienced Treatment Plant Operator ready to step into leadership while continuing to build their technical and operational capabilities within a supportive team environment.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Leading day-to-day operations across water and sewer treatment facilities
  • Operating and monitoring treatment plants, reservoirs, dams, pump stations, and SCADA/telemetry systems
  • Coordinating preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, emergency repairs, and contractor activities
  • Supporting procurement activities, including chemicals, materials, contractors, and operational supplies
  • Ensuring compliance with Australian Drinking Water Guidelines, EPA licences, and Council procedures
  • Managing operational records, water quality monitoring, testing, and compliance reporting
  • Mentoring and supporting operational staff while contributing positively to team culture
  • Participating in a rotating on-call roster and scheduled weekend operational coverage

This role is ideal for a practical and methodical operator who takes pride in delivering essential services to the community while developing leadership capability within a highly specialised water utilities environment.

Bring Your Water Treatment Experience, Leadership Potential & Strong Work Ethic

To qualify, you will bringhands-on experience operating water treatment and sewerage treatment systems, along with acurrent Australian Class C Driver’s Licence. Experience working withinwater utilities, treatment plants, or similar operational environmentswill be highly regarded, particularly where you’ve been involved inmaintenance, troubleshooting, monitoring, or compliance activities.

This opportunity is ideally suited to an experiencedTreatment Plant Operator looking to step into leadershipwithin a supportive and highly specialised water utilities environment.

Additionally, the following skills and experience will be highly valued:

  • Experience operating water and sewer treatment infrastructure
  • Exposure to SCADA, telemetry systems, and operational monitoring technologies
  • Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding capability
  • Experience coordinating maintenance activities and contractors
  • Understanding of Australian Drinking Water Guidelines and environmental compliance requirements
  • Strong record-keeping and reporting skills
  • Water or sewer treatment certifications, or willingness to obtain
  • A proactive approach to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement
