Lead a Service That Sits at the Heart of the Community
Warrumbungle Shire Councilis seeking aSupervisor - Poolsto join the team inCoonabarabran, NSW.
Reporting to the Manager Urban Services & Facilities, you'll oversee the operation of 6 outdoor swimming pools across the Shire, ensuring facilities remain safe, welcoming, compliant, and ready to serve the community.
This is a unique leadership opportunity that combines aquatic operations, people leadership, facility management, customer service, and community engagement. You'll have the autonomy to coordinate operations across multiple sites while playing an important role in shaping positive experiences for pool users throughout the region.
More specifically, your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and supporting Pool Attendants and seasonal staff across multiple facilities
- Supporting recruitment and onboarding and manage training, rostering, and workforce planning activities.
- Coordinating day-to-day pool operations and facility presentation
- Maintaining water quality standards and supporting safe, efficient operations
- Overseeing maintenance programs and responding to operational issues across Council's pool network
- Managing operational reporting, cash reconciliations, and key administrative functions
- Supporting WHS, risk management, and public safety outcomes
- Building positive relationships across Council teams, contractors, hirers, and the broader community

A Leadership Role with Variety
No two days are the same in this role.
With 6 facilities located across a large regional area, you'll balance people leadership, operational planning, maintenance coordination, customer service, and community engagement. During peak season, you'll play an important role in supporting workforce planning and ensuring facilities continue to operate effectively across multiple locations.
This role will suit a leader who enjoys being actively involved in operations, supporting their team on the ground, and taking pride in delivering high-quality community facilities.
Please Notethat pool season generally operates betweenOctober and Apriland may require flexibility to respond to operational matters outside standard business hours. This role also includes health monitoring and vaccination requirements associated with aquatic facility operations.
Bring Your Leadership, Initiative & Aquatic Operations Experience
We're looking for aconfident and community-minded leaderwho enjoys working with people, solving problems, and creating positive outcomes for both staff and the community.
You will ideally bringhands-on experience operating, maintaining, or supervising aquatic facilities, togetherwith the leadership skillsrequired to support teams across multiple locations.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Demonstrated supervisory or team leadership experience
- Experience within aquatic facilities, pool operations, or a similar environment
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- Current Working With Children Check
- Current NSW Class C Driver's Licence
- Strong understanding of workplace health and safety responsibilities
Additionally, the following skills and experience will be highly regarded:
- Water quality management and pool plant operations experience
- Workforce planning, rostering, and scheduling experience
- Experience leading casual or seasonal workforces
- Facilities maintenance or asset management experience
- Local government or community facility experience
As our ideal candidate, you'll be anapproachable and resilient leaderwithexcellent communication skillsand theability to build positive relationshipswith staff, community members, and stakeholders.
You'll be calm under pressure, confident managing challenging situations, and capable of exercising sound judgement when responding to incidents or operational issues. Strong attention to detail will also be essential, particularly when managing operational records, staff qualifications, licensing requirements, and other regulatory obligations across multiple facilities.
As one of Council's most visible community services, you'll be comfortable engaging professionally with residents, pool users, councillors, and community stakeholders while representing Council positively at all times.
