Community Development Officer - Children and Families
- Lead the delivery and ongoing improvement of programs for children and families in Mosman
- Coordinate Connections Playgroup and support welcoming, inclusive community programs

- Salary:$67,889 to $84,443 per annum plus 12% superannuation

What You’ll Be Working On

- Leading the delivery, coordination and continuous improvement of twice weekly Connections Playgroup.
- Planning and coordinating children and families programs, activities and events.
- Supporting community engagement with children, families and relevant stakeholders.
- Building and maintaining relationships with local early childhood providers, primary schools and other child focused organisations.
- Coordinating program logistics, including scheduling, resources, set-up and delivery.
- Supervising and supporting casual staff and volunteers involved in children and families programs.
- Ensuring programs and events are welcoming, inclusive, child safe and well managed.
- Supporting the delivery of events such as Children’s Week, Child Protection Week and the Children’s Fair.
- Collecting feedback and program insights to support evaluation, reporting and continuous improvement.
What You’ll Bring to the Role

- Tertiary qualifications in early childhood education, community services, social sciences or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in the delivery of programs or services for children and families, preferably in a community or early childhood setting.
- Experience coordinating programs, activities or events, including planning, logistics and working with support staff or volunteers.
- An understanding of community engagement principles and the ability to consult with children, families and stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, families and community partners.
- Sound organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- An understanding of child safeguarding principles and a commitment to child safety.
- A demonstrated commitment to quality customer service and continuous improvement.
- A valid Working With Children Check.
- National criminal history check undertaken through Council.
- Current First Aid Certificate and Anaphylaxis training, or willingness to obtain.
The position is identified as a Child-Related position under the Commission of Children and Young People Act 1998 and the successful candidate is required to hold a valid Working With Children Check andis subject to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check undertaken by Council.
