About the role

As a Youth Development Officer, you'll play a key role in planning, delivering and promoting a diverse range of youth initiatives. Working across our Youth Centres in Gordon and St Ives, you'll engage directly with young people while helping create safe, inclusive and welcoming spaces where they can connect, learn and grow.

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Deliver engaging youth programs and activities across Council's Youth Centres in Gordon and St Ives
  • Plan and deliver youth events, including Youth Week, live music events, skate competitions and other community initiatives
  • Develop and facilitate youth participation, leadership and school holiday programs that respond to community needs
  • Build strong partnerships with schools, community organisations and local service providers
  • Connect with young people through outreach, consultation and promotion to ensure services are inclusive, relevant and well supported
  • Maintain high-quality service delivery through accurate record keeping, reporting and support for volunteers, casual staff and continuous service improvement

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • A Diploma or Degree in Youth Work, Social Science or a related discipline
  • Experience working directly with young people and developing engaging youth programs
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to connect with young people from diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • A collaborative approach, with experience building partnerships across schools, community organisations and stakeholders
  • A current Working with Children Check, Class C Driver Licence and First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
