The Child Care Services Relief Coordinator will plan and deliver an appropriate short-term Early Education and Care programs to ensure continuity of child care operations in the East Arnhem communities. This role will maintain day-to-day coordination of services, lead and support staff to ensure excellence in service delivery.
 
What you'll do

  • Provide relief coordination across Child Care Services to support the day-to-day operations of centres and ensure continuity of high-quality education and care during staff absences or operational gaps.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with children, families, educators, and key stakeholders to support consistent service delivery and ensure the education and care needs of families and the community are met.
  • Coordinate and support staff rostering and timesheet processes, monitor staff attendance, and assist with workforce coverage to ensure appropriate educator-to-child ratios are maintained.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to educators while working collaboratively within teams across services to ensure programs effectively support children's development, wellbeing, and learning outcomes.
  • Support the implementation of early childhood education and care practices aligned with the National Quality Standards (NQS), Education and Care Regulations, and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).
  • Assist services with managing enrolments and Child Care Subsidy requirements, ensuring accurate records are maintained within the Child Care Management System.
  • Support centres with the preparation and completion of documentation, reports, and administrative tasks to meet organisational, regulatory, and funding requirements.
  • Ensure service environments remain safe, clean, and well-organised, and promptly report maintenance issues, hazards, or faults in accordance with procedures.
  • Comply with all Policies and Procedures relating to Safeguarding Children, Privacy and Confidentiality, and Work Health and Safety
  • Comply with all Workplace Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Actively participate in all offered training and development opportunities.
  • Other duties as reasonably directed by the Regional Manager - Child Care Services.

What we're looking for
 
 
Essential Selection Criteria

  • A minimum qualification of Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, or Certificate III with the ability to enrol in and complete a Diploma.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of child care legislation, including the National Quality Framework and all regulatory requirements.
  • First Aid and CPR qualification, or the willingness to obtain.
  • Food safety qualification, or the willingness to obtain.
  • Current Ochre Card, or the willingness to obtain.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating small teams with the ability to effectively coach and develop staff.
  • Proven ability to effectively deliver early childhood programs.
  • Current approved qualifications in first aid, including asthma and anaphylaxis, and safe food handling.
  • The ability to maintain a safe working environment utilising principles of risk management.
  • Adaptable and resilient, with the ability to live, work and thrive in complex cross-cultural environments.
  • Advanced oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, including effective stakeholder engagement, active listening and experience in navigating conflict and challenging situations.
  • Strong cross-cultural awareness, respect, and understanding of First Nations people and their history.
  • Proven effective time management with the ability to work autonomously.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook) and an ability to learn new software.
  • Must hold a current C Class Drivers Licence.

Desirable Selection Criteria

  • Other relevant or related qualifications.
  • Previous experience living and/or working in remote Australian First Nations' communities.
  • Demonstrated high level of cross-cultural awareness to ensure effective participation in a multi-cultural workplace.
  • Awareness of issues affecting First Nations People in Australia.
