EXECUTIVE MANAGER CITY FUTURES

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking leader to join Maitland City Council's Senior Leadership Team as Executive Manager City Futures.

Reporting to the Director City Planning, this pivotal role will contribute to the planning, development, and shaping of the city's long-term growth and urban future. As Executive Manager City Futures, you will lead the strategic direction of the city's growth, integrating land use, urban release and precinct planning, infrastructure planning, and environmental stewardship. You will play a critical role in ensuring Council delivers responsible development that supports housing supply, economic prosperity, environmental protection, and community wellbeing.

Importantly, you will ensure environmental and sustainability strategies, urban ecology, and natural resource and flood planning are effectively coordinated and integrated with strategic planning priorities and Council-wide objectives.

The key service areas you will lead and drive excellence across include but are not limited to:

- Strategic Policy Planning & Urban data planning

- Land Use Planning & Heritage Planning

- Infrastructure contributions and planning

- Biodiversity and Natural asset management

- Estuary management & Floodplain management

- Sustainability strategy and planning

About You

To be successful in this opportunity, we are seeking a highly capable leader with tertiary qualifications in Urban Planning or a related discipline.

You will bring substantial local government experience in strategic planning, with a proven ability to lead strategy development that balances growth with the protection and enhancement of our natural environmental systems, contributing to resilient communities and delivering strong economic, planning and sustainable outcomes for the city.

Your strong leadership capability will be complemented by your ability to engage, influence, and build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels, while driving efficient, high-quality outcomes.
