About the Role
Maitland City Council is one of the fastest growing councils in the state, driven by significant greenfield development and ongoing urban expansion. To support this growth, we are seeking an experienced Senior Subdivision and Development Engineer to join our team.
Working within the City Planning department, the Senior Subdivision and Development Engineer is responsible for the civil engineering assessment of large and complex Development Applications, approval of complex engineering construction design plans, construction compliance inspections, and the eventual acceptance of completed roads, drainage, and recreation assets on behalf of Council. These responsibilities are undertaken in accordance with Council's Development Control Plans, relevant codes, organisational policies, and best practice engineering standards.
This position involves regular engagement with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, supporting developers, consultants, contractors and members of the public. The role offers a balance of office based technical assessment and onsite construction inspections.
As a senior member of the team, you will provide leadership through mentoring and supporting team members, contributing to continuous improvement and championing Council's Guiding Principles to deliver exceptional outcomes for the community.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will hold a Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline or possess equivalent experience supported by relevant education and training.
You will have contemporary, expert knowledge and extensive practical experience across all aspects of subdivision construction and development engineering, along with significant experience in the assessment of complex Development Applications and the review and approval of complex engineering design plans.
You will demonstrate exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to adapt your communication style to a range of audiences. You will be able to work productively within a team environment and provide leadership and mentoring at a senior level.
