EXECUTIVE MANAGER WASTE & REGULATORY SERVICES

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking leader to join Maitland City Council's Senior Leadership Team as Executive Manager Waste & Regulatory Services.

Reporting to the Director City Planning, this role provides strategic and operational leadership across Council's waste management and regulatory service functions. You will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering a new era of waste management services for the city.

As Executive Manager Waste & Regulatory Services, you will lead Council's regulatory functions, including environmental health, compliance, and ranger services. You will lead and drive contemporary waste services and operations, ensuring high-performing service delivery and strong regulatory compliance, while shaping forward-looking policies that creates thriving and liveable communities.

In this role, you will lead and drive excellence across a diverse portfolio of services, including:

- Waste and recycling strategy, planning, collections, and disposal

- Regulatory and environmental compliance

- Environmental health services

- Maitland Animal Management Facility

About You

To be successful in this opportunity, we are seeking a highly capable leader with tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Business, Natural Resource Planning, Waste Management or related discipline.

You will bring substantial experience within local government, with a strong background in environmental management, waste operations, and regulatory compliance. Complementing this is your demonstrated expertise across all aspects of project management, including risk management, consultant engagement, and contract management.

Your strong leadership capability will be complemented by your ability to engage, influence, and build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels, while driving efficient, high-quality outcomes.
