About the Role
The Grants Officer plays a key role in maximising external funding opportunities by proactively identifying, coordinating and responding to Federal and State government grant programs. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, the role aligns funding opportunities with strategic infrastructure priorities while supporting the Enterprise Project Management Office to strengthen project readiness, quality and delivery outcomes.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Gain and maintain extensive insight into Federal and State government funding programs and opportunities aimed at driving economic growth and/or assisting Council in achieving outcomes within Council's strategic priorities.
  • Act as a key contact and liaison for internal, government and political stakeholders in relation to funding opportunities and the progression of applications.
  • Gain and maintain knowledge of Council's key infrastructure priorities, including relevant strategic plans and/or master plans, and identify potential funding opportunities. Develop and maintain a corporate database/register of potential projects for funding.
  • Work with relevant Managers across Council to develop strategically aligned funding opportunities and ensure projects are "shovel‑ready" and eligible for potential grant funding opportunities.
  • Coordinate input to grant and subsidy applications from both internal and external sources and prepare high‑quality submissions to maximise opportunities to obtain external funding, including identifying and proposing solutions to address risks to applications.
  • Monitor and report on grant and subsidy outcomes, including maintaining appropriate systems for tracking applications, reporting and acquittals, and providing regular updates to the Executive and senior leadership teams.

The advertised salary is based on the grade of the position, comprising of 4 steps within the range shown. The starting salary is at Step 1 within the grade. Progression through the salary steps shall be based upon the achievement of performance objectives relating to the position.

About You
To be successful in the position, you will have:

  • Degree Qualification in Business, Finance, Marketing, Communication or other relevant qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated high level experience in the grant funding process including developing successful funding submissions (including developing business case), research, analysis and acquittals.
  • Class C Driver's Licence
  • Proof of right to work in Australia

This role is suited to a highly organised and analytical professional with demonstrated experience across the grant funding lifecycle, including researching funding opportunities, developing strong business cases and submissions, and managing reporting and acquittals. The successful candidate will have a relevant qualification or equivalent experience, strong written communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders to deliver outcomes aligned with Council's strategic priorities.
