Waste Depot Operator

• Multiple Permanent / Full-Time opportunities available
• Salary: $66,775 - $75,052 gross p.a. plus 12% Super
• Additional $2,726.88 gross p.a. in allowances
• 35 hours per week (Monday to Sunday)
• The waste depot operator positions shall be, on a rotational basis at West Nowra, Huskisson, and Ulladulla, however, will be required to work at the 7 other sites including Kangaroo Valley, Berry, Callala, Sussex Inlet, Bendalong, Lake Conjola or Kioloa recycling and waste depots to meet operational needs.

About the Role

This role supports the safe, efficient, and customer-focused operation of Council's Recycling and Waste Depots. Working as part of a team, the position contributes to effective waste management, resource recovery, recycling, and customer service activities while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and environmental controls. This includes:

• Supporting the safe and efficient operation of Council's waste and resource recovery facilities.
• Undertaking waste, recycling, resource recovery, and customer service activities that promote workplace safety, positive customer experiences, and improved environmental outcomes.
• Working across multiple facilities and operational areas as required to meet service delivery needs.
• Operating heavy vehicles and specialised plant and equipment when appropriately trained and authorised.
• Assisting in maximising resource recovery and maintaining environmental compliance standards.

About You

To be successful in the position, you will have:

• Experience operating plant, equipment and/or heavy vehicles in an operational environment.
• Current HR Driver Licence
• Hold or be willing to obtain a SafeWork NSW Construction Induction Card (White Card).
• Ability and willingness to undertake physical work in an outdoor environment.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Demonstrated ability to follow procedures, use sound judgement and contribute positively to workplace culture.
• Proof of Australian residency or citizenship, or authority to work in Australia (visa)

We are looking for a dependable team player with practical experience in waste or civil operations, good communication skills, and a strong focus on safety and environmental responsibility. They should hold or be willing to obtain the required licences and work confidently in a busy, hands-on environment.
