THE OPPORTUNITY
Join Tamworth Regional Council as a WHS Business Partner and play a key role in embedding a proactive, risk-based safety culture across a diverse operational environment.
Working closely with leaders, supervisors and teams, you will influence how safety is managed in practice - driving continuous improvement and strengthening organisational capability in line with ISO 45001 principles.
This is a hands-on, field-based role where your expertise will directly contribute to safer outcomes for your people and community.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
As a WHS Business Partner, you will:
- Partner with leaders and teams to embed safe work practices and a positive safety culture
- Support and enhance Council’s Integrated Management System (IMS) aligned with ISO 45001
- Facilitate risk assessments and support proactive hazard identification and control
- Lead and support incident investigations, identifying root causes and implementing effective corrective actions
- Conduct audits, inspections and safety observations to monitor and improve performance
- Provide practical, timely advice to leaders on WHS legislation, compliance and best practice
- Coach and influence leaders to build accountability and capability in safety management
- Analyse WHS data and trends to drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Support delivery of training and awareness programs across the organisation
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL DEMONSTRATE
- Qualifications in Work Health & Safety (Diploma or equivalent experience)
- Experience in developing, implementing and improving WHS systems, ideally aligned to ISO 45001 or similar frameworks
- Strong capability in incident investigation, risk assessment and audit processes
- Ability to influence, coach and build relationships across all levels of an organisation
- Sound knowledge of WHS legislation and its practical application
- Excellent communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Experience working across diverse or high-risk operational environments
- Hold a current Australian Drivers Licence
- WHS Construction Card
- Immunisations for Hepatitis A&B, Tetanus, Q Fever OR willingness to undergo
- Demonstrated experience developing, implementing & monitoring WHS systems

Salary range: Grade 16 - $1,863.99 - $2,016.97 per week including 12% superannuation for a 35-hour work week. Salary may be negotiated based on skills, experience and your value to our organisation.
Flexible working arrangements will be considered by mutual agreement and according to operational requirements.
