As aSenior Planner, you will work on a myriad of complex, interesting and varied development applications across the Inner West. This includes large scale residential, commercial, industrial, childcare, adaptive re-use and mixed-use development proposals, providing exposure to a diverse range of planning issues and urban design challenges.
The role is ideal for an experienced planner who enjoys working through complex matters with multi-disciplinary teams, negotiating high-quality outcomes and contributing to positive change within a growing and evolving local government area.
The purpose of the role is to:

Undertake the assessment of complex development applications and pre-development applications in a professional manner, within the relevant legislative framework, while achieving high-quality design solutions through negotiation and facilitation where required.

Participate in an efficient and effective lodgement and duty town planning service, ensuring consistent, accurate and high-quality advice is provided to applicants, residents and stakeholders.

Foster a problem-solving culture by mentoring and assisting other town planners within the unit, particularly in negotiating improved planning and design outcomes.

Identify opportunities for improvements to development controls to support better design and planningoutcomes.

$114,377.12 - $130,800.28 + 12% Superannuation + Market Allowance + Access to Motor Vehicle Leaseback Scheme OR Car Allowance
Some of the required skills, experience and qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning or related discipline such as Architecture or Urban Design.
- Extensive experience in development assessment in local government particularly in NSW and the social, political, legal and regulatory frameworks in which it operates.
- Excellent knowledge of Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, Local Government Act and related planning legislation and concepts as they relate to development assessment.
- Strong interpersonal communication, collaboration and stakeholder management skills including negotiation, mediation and facilitation skills.
- Ability and demonstrated commitment to providing outstanding customer service
