We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Cleaner to join our team. Being part of the Facilities Management team and is responsible for ensuring the Administration Centre, Masonic Hall, Family Day Care, other allocated locations and their surrounding grounds are kept safe, secure, clean, hygienic and well-maintained premises for the use of Councillors, employees and the public.

You will also be required to:

  • Follow and maintain a program of works, which ensures designated areas are clean and maintained to the agreed standard.
  • Carry out cleaning duties as agreed to those areas of the Administration Centre, Masonic Hall, Family Day Care, other allocated locations, grounds, and equipment therein as directed.
  • Carry out waste recycling as directed.
  • Check the condition of each area being worked on and act on or report any instances where there may be a danger to Councillors, employees, or the public.
  • Report and assist to resolve enquiries/requests/complaints relating to cleaning and support services.
  • Promote and project the image of Council as being both courteous and efficient.
  • Provide catering services as and when required to Councillors, employees, and guests.
  • Display discretion and tact in all dealings with and around Councillors and Senior Management

This role operates on a 9-day fortnight schedule. The successful applicant must be flexible with their working hours to support key Council events. This includes assisting with the setup and attendance at Council meetings held on Mondays (typically twice per month), as well as providing support for Citizenship ceremonies held on Fridays (approximately four times per year).

You’re someone who takes pride in your work and understands the importance of clean, safe spaces. You can manage your time well, follow safety procedures, and complete tasks with minimal supervision. You bring a strong sense of responsibility, a great work ethic, and a commitment to doing the job right every time.

You will also meet the following criteria:

  • Certificate II in Cleaning, or equivalent work experience
  • Experienced and skilled in cleaning and in the use of cleaning equipment e.g. floor polishers, sweepers, pressure sprayers
  • Strong interpersonal skills, self-motivated, reliable and able to work with minimum supervision
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment
  • Demonstrated application of protocol and etiquette
  • Ability to exercise high level of discretion when working in environments populated by Councillors and Senior Management
  • Class C Driver’s licence
