About the Role
Maitland City Council is seeking an Associate Legal Counsel to join our highly skilled legal team.
As an Associate Legal Counsel, you will support the Legal Counsel in delivering in-house legal services by advising on a diverse and interesting range of matters including planning, environment, contract and local government law, along with other legal and regulatory issues.
You will assist with the review, negotiation and drafting of various contracts and agreements as well as Council policies and procedures.
You will engage with and develop strong relationships with people across all levels of the organisation, and support them by providing efficient, accurate, empathetic and strategic legal advice.
About You
You possess qualifications in law and a current Australian legal practising certificate, and have a minimum of 2 - 5 years PAE.
You demonstrate strong skills in legal research, analysis, and interpretation, with the ability to provide clear, succinct advice on complex matters. You also have excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft complex legal documents with accuracy and clarity.
You are looking to enjoy challenging and interesting work that makes a genuine difference to the local community and its residents, whilst being supported by an organisation that values its people.
Benefits
This is a permanent full-time role, working 35 hours per week with a salary range from $98,093 - $108,883 + 12% super. Council also offers a range of benefits for its employees including:
