About the role
Council is seeking an Asset Management Officer with demonstrated enthusiasm for learning new ideas and skills to support the sustainable management of infrastructure assets through the maintenance and continuous improvement of asset information, lifecycle planning and asset management systems.

The position will be responsible for managing asset data and asset management activities for an assigned infrastructure portfolio, such as Transport, Water and Sewer or Open Spaces and Facilities. It would be essential to have willingness to understand asset classification to better support asset creation, capitalisation, condition data management, maintenance planning, revaluation activities and continuous improvement of asset management practices.

Working closely with asset owners, project managers, operations staff, finance staff and the IT & Systems team, the Asset Management Officer will ensure asset information is accurate, reliable and supports data-driven decision making, asset management maturity uplift and service delivery outcomes.

The position plays an important role in improving Council's asset management maturity through better utilisation of asset management systems, improved data governance, lifecycle planning and implementation of asset management improvement initiatives.

    Q1. Asset management relies heavily on data quality, analysis and problem solving. Please provide an example of a situation where you used spreadsheets, databases, reporting tools or other systems to identify a problem, improve a process or support a business decision. Describe the followings to address this question:
  • The challenge.
  • The tools or techniques you used.
  • Your approach to analysis.
  • The outcome achieved.
    Q2. Describe a situation where you were required to manage multiple competing priorities within tight timeframes. How did you determine priorities, what considerations influenced your decisions and what was the outcome?

Other important information
This position is located at Council's Rushforth Road Works Depot, however, this may change should business needs identify other work locations to be more appropriate to deliver our services in the future. A probation period applies to this position.
