GIS Spatial Analyst/Systems Development Officer (12 month Contract)
Location: Tamworth, NSW
- Maintain and develop GIS infrastructure and application(s) development, including Geocortex & ESRI applications
- Perform core geospatial services including data capture, data analysis and management of enterprise and GIS datasets
- Publish high end cartographic and geospatial information products appropriate to internal and external clients, including web mapping, maps and data extracts
The GIS & Spatial Services team provide high level GIS services for Tamworth Regional Council through functions such as: corporate applications development, remotely piloted aerial systems (RPAS), data analysis and online mapping. These essential services are a vital tool supporting business functions and processes within the organisation, promoting informed decision making across the Tamworth Local Government area by utilising the power of location and data in new & unique ways.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The position is responsible for providing accurate and reliable spatial data and GIS functions. The successful applicants will work with data from remotely piloted aerial systems (RPAS), advanced web mapping tools, provide guidance and support for the organisation’s GIS applications and facilitate workshops to generate business process reviews with the objective of obtaining the maximum benefit out of GIS applications and web-based services.
Key Duties include:
- Perform core geospatial services including data capture, data analysis and management of enterprise and GIS datasets;
- Publish high end cartographic and geospatial information products appropriate to internal and external clients, including web mapping, maps and data extracts;
- Maintain and develop GIS Infrastructure and application functionalities;
- Promote the broader use of the geospatial platform to support digital transformation and innovation;
- Provide GIS support and training for GIS corporate applications
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED
- Tertiary qualification in Geographic Information Systems / Information Technology or a related field / qualification, and/or demonstrated capability through past employment experience (min 5 years).
- Demonstrated experience in geospatial information systems, (ESRI and Geocortex) and software development and scripting through python and SQL.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with team members and liaise effectively with a wide range of staff and external clients.
- Developed problem solving and analytical skills and the ability to work with staff, and end users to provide innovative solutions.

Salary range: Grade15 - $92,452.49 - $98,998.84 per annum plus 12% superannuation for a 35 hour work week. Salary may be negotiated based on skills, experience and your value to our organisation.
Flexible working arrangements will be considered by mutual agreement and according to operational requirements.
