JOB DESCRIPTION
This is a high-trust, autonomous leadership role responsible for delivering key services and projects across Council's Parks, Sport and Open Spaces. The position leads both strategic and operational initiatives, overseeing areas such as parks, sports fields, recreation facilities, tree management, and compliance.
You will drive innovative, best-practice service delivery, shaping city works strategies that support Council's long-term vision and ensure high-quality, accessible public spaces. The role also involves identifying future organisational needs, optimising maintenance services, and promoting operational excellence across open spaces and bushland.
Working closely with the Director Operations, you will ensure effective management of budgets, risks, systems, and processes, with a strong focus on continuous improvement, innovation, and efficient service delivery.
ABOUT YOU
The successful candidate will possess the following:
- Relevant Management or Business or Project Management degree (or equivalent) with significant demonstrated leadership and management experience in a related field
- Current Class C Driver's License
- Proven ability to lead and provide strategic direction to multidisciplinary teams, delivering organisational objectives
- Strong experience in project and change management, including planning, resource allocation, and successful delivery
- Demonstrated capability in developing and managing business plans, budgets, and innovative service solutions
- Experience working with executives and senior stakeholders to manage complex, sensitive issues and projects
- High-level leadership experience delivering specialist programs and driving organisational performance
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills across all levels
- Strong emotional intelligence with a collaborative and people-focused leadership style
- Proven stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence outcomes
- Ability to provide expert advice on complex operational, policy, and governance matters
- Sound knowledge of WHS, compliance obligations, and relevant legislation, including Local Government frameworks
- Specialist knowledge of open space management and maintenance practices

The salary (within the above-mentioned range) will be dependent upon the relevant skills, experience, and competencies of the successful applicant.
