We are seeking an experienced and motivated Project Engineer to join our dynamic team. This is an opportunity to bring your technical expertise, project delivery experience and genuine passion for engineering to a role where you can help deliver quality infrastructure outcomes for our growing community.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting with the initiation, planning and delivery of multiple capital works projects and programs, including roads, drainage, paths and other civil infrastructure projects.
  • Preparing and administering project briefs, tender documentation and expressions of interest to support effective planning, procurement and delivery of infrastructure works.
  • Providing technical input during project concept, scoping, design and construction phases to support practical, sustainable and cost-effective outcomes.
  • Identifying project risks and applying appropriate mitigation strategies to support safe, efficient and compliant project delivery.
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders, consultants, contractors, government authorities and community members to ensure projects are coordinated and delivered effectively.
  • Undertaking regular site inspections to monitor progress, confirm works are delivered in accordance with approved designs and specifications, and support contractor performance management.
  • Administering contract and project management requirements in line with the Shire's Project Management Framework, including progress assessments, variation claims, payment verification and record keeping.
  • Coordinating practical completion inspections, defects management, quality assurance documentation and the capture of 'as constructed' records for completed projects.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in project engineering, civil infrastructure delivery or capital works projects, ideally within roads, drainage, paths or related municipal infrastructure.
  • Sound knowledge of civil construction practices, technical standards, design documentation, project estimation and contract administration requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage competing project priorities, monitor contractor performance, assess progress claims and variations, and maintain accurate project records.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with consultants, contractors, internal teams, government authorities and the community.
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach with a commitment to safe, sustainable, cost-effective and high-quality project outcomes.
  • A relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline, and a genuine commitment to ongoing professional development.

The important stuff

The annual salary for this role is $105,895, with the potential to negotiate a higher salary depending on the skills, qualifications and experience you bring to the role.
