We are looking for like-minded individuals to join our fun and dynamic team! We are seeking an experienced and professional Coordinator Waste Services with a passion for the management of waste and resource recovery services.
Success in this role requires a thorough understanding of waste and resource recovery, strong leadership abilities, excellent problem-solving and negotiation skills.
In this role you will have the following accountabilities:
- Lead the delivery and continuous improvement of the Shire's waste avoidance, resource recovery, recycling, and waste management services.
- Supervise and support the Waste Team, including the Waste Transfer Station Supervisor, to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality service delivery.
- Oversee waste contracts, contractors, consultants, and the operation of the Watkins Road Waste and Recycling Transfer Station, ensuring compliance with service, budget, and WHS requirements.
- Contribute to the planning and implementation of the Shire's Waste Strategy and provide specialist technical advice on waste management and resource recovery.
- Lead projects and initiatives that enhance waste and recycling services, improve operational performance, and support sustainability outcomes.
Our preferred candidate will be able to demonstrate the following experiences and skillset:
- Relevant tertiary qualification and/or substantial experience (minimum 5 years) in waste management, resource recovery, or a related field.
- Experience managing waste collection, disposal, and recycling contracts, including tendering, procurement, and contractor performance management.
- Experience developing and implementing waste management strategies, policies, service standards, and operational improvements.
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships.
- Well-developed organisational, time management, problem-solving, and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- High level computer literacy, including experience using spreadsheets, databases, and other business systems.
