We’re seeking to fill a temporary 6‑month Wellington Caves Operations Coordinator role, working 35 hours per week across a 7‑day roster. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a passionate, committed team and help shape unforgettable visitor experiences at one of regional NSW’s most unique tourism attractions — the Wellington Caves and Caravan Park.
This temporary role for 6 months offers the chance to build leadership capability, broaden your experience and make a visible impact in a hands‑on tourism operations role. You’ll support the delivery of high‑quality visitor experiences, contribute to the success of a significant Council asset and play a part in strengthening local tourism and community connection. As the Wellington Caves Complex Operations Coordinator, you’ll own the day‑to‑day operation of one of Dubbo Regional Council’s most iconic tourism assets — the Wellington Caves and Caravan Park. This is a rare opportunity to lead, build and elevate a destination that blends world‑class natural heritage with memorable visitor experiences.
You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping how thousands of visitors experience the Caves, bringing together people, place and storytelling to showcase everything this extraordinary site has to offer. From underground tours to above‑ground stays, you’ll create seamless, high‑quality experiences that support regional tourism, strengthen community pride and help grow Wellington as a must‑visit destination.
You’ll make an impact by:

Leading the daily operations of the Wellington Caves and Caravan Park, ensuring every visitor experience is safe, engaging and of the highest quality.
- Building and inspiring a diverse team of guides, customer service and operational staff to deliver welcoming, authentic and memorable experiences
- Creating and evolving guided tours, exhibitions and visitor programs that bring the Caves’ natural and cultural story to life

Owning operational, financial and asset responsibilities, including rostering, budgets, bookings and continuous improvement of facilities and experiences

Supporting marketing, partnerships and product development to grow visitation and strengthen the Caves’ position as a standout regional attraction
What you'll bring
To thrive in this role, you will need:
- Demonstrated experience in business, tourism, hospitality, cultural or recreation management role.
- Demonstrated ability in staff management and business administration.
- Experience in budget management, point of sale, cashiering and banking duties.
- Excellence in interpersonal and communication skills.
- Computer skills and competency in the use of finance or accounting software and Microsoft based software
packages including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, event management/bookings software and EDM software.
We would also love you to have:
- Experience in developing visitor experience programmes, including guided tours.
- Tertiary Degree in business, marketing, tourism, recreational or cultural management or a related field.
- Experience working in a recreation or heritage conservation related field.

This position offers an attractive annual salary ranging from $88,171 to $102,468.
