The Opportunity
In this crucial role within the Waste Collection Team, our Waste Service Operators undertake a range of waste management services to support our community of Maitland.
They are responsible for general waste collection around the Maitland LGA, operating side loading waste collection vehicles, helping to keep our community clean. Our Operators are customer focused, operating on specific routes throughout the community of Maitland and work cohesively within a team environment.
We're looking for an experienced and reliable operator, who takes pride in the safe operation of waste collection vehicles and who is committed to the tidy appearance of our City.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will hold a current HR licence with demonstrated experience operating side loading waste collection vehicles, ideally in residential kerbside collection.
You will be a productive and reliable team member, with a strong safety mindset, good interpersonal skills, and a commitment to delivering quality service to the community.
Whilst not essential, the following will be highly regarded:
- Experience operating rear loading vehicles and working in bulky waste or illegal dumping collections.
- Experience in waste operations in a municipal or commercial waste environment.
- Front loader or forklift experience.
- Experience assisting with driver training, route familiarisation and safe work practices.
Benefits
- Full-time permanent role.
- 38 hour week, Monday to Friday roster, 7.6 hour shift lengths, operating hours from 4:45am - 1:15pm.
- Base salary range from $36.95 - $40.46 per hour, inclusive of a side loading collection allowance + additional allowances.
- 12% superannuation.
- Public Holiday penalty rates where applicable.
