Lake Macquarie City Council is seeking enthusiastic and customer-focusedSwim Centre Receptioniststo join our Leisure Services Team for the upcoming season. As the face of our Swim Centres, you'll play an important role in creating a welcoming and enjoyable experience for thousands of patrons across our network.

From greeting customers and assisting with bookings to supporting café operations and handling enquiries, no two days are the same. This is a fantastic opportunity for people who enjoy delivering great customer service, working as part of a supportive team and contributing to the health and wellbeing of our community.

What you'll do

• Welcome and assist Swim Centre patrons
• Provide exceptional customer service and resolve enquiries
• Process memberships, bookings and payments
• Support café operations, including safe food handling
• Assist with stock control and merchandise
• Reconcile financial transactions from Point of
  Sale
• Work closely with Swim Centre staff to support safe and efficient operations
• Contribute to a positive, friendly and community-focused environment

Shifts are available across a 7-day roster between4:00am and 9:00pmand may be offered at any of our Swim Centres located atWest Wallsend, Charlestown and Speers Point. Applicants must be willing and able to travel between sites as required. Proposed Start Date: 26 September 2026.

As part of the recruitment process, shortlisted candidates will undertake a practical skills and fitness assessment which includes:

• 200 metres in 6 minutes
• deep water object retrieval
• 20 metre mannequin tow
• 10 minutes of CPR compressions in pairs

We're looking for motivated and reliable people who genuinely enjoy helping others and thrive in a busy, customer-focused environment.

You'll bring:

• Experience working in a customer-facing role
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with a diverse range of customers
• Experience processing payments and directing customer enquiries
• Intermediate computer skills and experience using Microsoft Office applications
• A positive, flexible and team-oriented approach

Current qualifications or willingness to obtain:

• Pool Lifeguard Qualification (including Spinal) or equivalent technical qualification
• Current First Aid and CPR Certificates
• Accredited Safe Food Handling qualification
• Current paid Working with Children Check

Previous experience in Swim Centre reception or café operations will be highly regarded.
