Narromine Shire Council covers an area of 5264 km2 and has a population of approximately 6444 in the rural townships of Narromine, Trangie & Tomingley and the surrounding rural areas. Narromine is located 40km from the regional city of Dubbo.

About the position
Narromine Shire Council are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced applicant for the Supervisor Waste & Community Facilities position.
The objective of this position is to:
- Supervise the operations and performance of the Aerodromes, Waste Facilities and Saleyards and the maintenance, repairs and cleaning of Council owned buildings.
- Work closely with key stakeholders to assist and provide advice to upgrades, renewals and new installations and operational programs to council facilities.
- Ensure Council waste depots are kept in a clean, tidy condition in accordance with Council policy and the Landfill Environmental Management Plan (LEMP).
- Working with the Manager Facilities to deliver projects and strategies across a wide range of facilities.
To be successful in this position you will need to have:
Essential:
- Certificate lll in Asset Maintenance (Waste Management)
- Aerodrome Reporting Operators Course certificate
- C class licence
- General Induction for Construction Work in NSW (White Card)
- Proven sound understanding of the EPA legislation as it relates to waste management
- Ability to identify hazardous waste
- Intermediate level of computer literacy, including demonstrated experience using, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, email and internet.
- Demonstrated experience in the management and supervision of staff and contractors
- Sound understanding of WHS requirements
- Asbestos Awareness Training
Desirable:
- Previous experience in waste management
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Current First Aid Certificate.
- Class ‘HR’ Drivers Licence
- Loader/Backhoe/Bobcat certificate of competence
- Forklift ‘High Risk Licence’
- Certificate 4 in Project Management
- Asbestos removal licence
Special Conditions
- The position could involve exposure to hazardous materials.
The details relating to this position are:
- The position is graded 14 within Council's salary structure
- The salary range is from $86,083 - $97,396 per annum plus on call allowance and superannuation. The salary step is determined by an annual competency assessment.
- 38 hour working week applies.
- 9 day fortnight. Rostered Day Off every second Monday.
- Employment conditions are as per the Local Government (State) Award
