About the role:
Our Resource Recovery and Waste Services team pride themselves on being proactive with educating our community about responsible waste management and focusing on delivering relevant and efficient services in support of a sustainable environment.
The Resource Recovery and Waste team is expanding to ensure we are aligned to the needs of our community and to meet these, we are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive leader to manage an energetic and passionate team.
As the Senior Waste Coordinator, you will be responsible for:
- Provide operational leadership across Councils waste management activities including:
- Implementation of waste management policies and plans as required.
- Customer liaison
- Waste Audits
- Waste data capture and reporting
- Coordination of bin surveillance program and contamination management plan
- Take a lead role in developing and reviewing waste management policies, procedures and service delievery models
- Lead the strategic administration, governance and performance optimisation of Council’s waste and
resource recovery service contracts to ensure services are delivered in accordance with contractual
obligations, environmental legislation and Council service standards - Provide expert technical and strategic advice to senior management and internal stakeholders on
complex waste management matters including development planning, infrastructure planning and
regulatory compliance.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Environmental/Waste Management, Environmental Science/Engineering and/or extensive job related experience in a relevant field.
- Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of the resource recovery and waste management industry, including industry stakeholders, emerging technologies and government policy frameworks relating to waste and recycling at regional, state and federal levels.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply relevant waste management legislation and regulatory frameworks, including the Local Government Act 1993, Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Act 2001 (NSW), and the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 and associated regulations.
- Demonstrated leadership and people management capability to lead, motivate and develop staff within a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Experience with responsibility for workforce coordination, performance management and the delivery of operational and strategic service outcomes.
- Highly developed customer service and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Demonstrated ability to respond to enquiries, manage issues and maintain positive relationships with customers and the community.
- Advanced computer literacy and well-developed report writing.
- Organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver accurate, high-quality documentation and reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and deliver complex projects, including planning, stakeholder coordination, risk management.
- Highly developed analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
