As our Senior Stormwater Drainage Engineer, you'll play a key role in the long-term planning, management and improvement of Lake Macquarie's stormwater drainage network. Working within the Infrastructure Asset Management Team, you'll help ensure our community's drainage assets remain safe, sustainable and resilient for future generations.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineering professional who enjoys combining technical expertise, strategic asset management and stakeholder engagement to deliver meaningful outcomes for the community.
This exciting role will:
- Lead the planning and management of Council's stormwater drainage assets
- Develop asset management plans, lifecycle models and renewal programs that support informed investment decisions
- Provide specialist engineering advice on stormwater infrastructure, risk and asset performance
- Identify and prioritise future drainage improvement opportunities through assessment, analysis and planning
- Manage investigations, feasibility assessments and capital works planning activities
- Mentor and support colleagues through technical leadership and peer review
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to achieve effective outcomes for the community
- Support compliance obligations relating to declared dams, stormwater programs and associated infrastructure initiatives

LET’S HEAR ABOUT YOU
You are an experienced engineer with a strong background in stormwater infrastructure and asset management. You enjoy solving complex problems, making evidence-based decisions and influencing positive outcomes through collaboration and technical expertise.
You can confidently manage competing priorities, communicate complex information in plain English and build productive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
To be successful, you will bring:
- A degree qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
- Experience assessing stormwater and drainage infrastructure and developing practical engineering solutions
- Knowledge of asset management principles, lifecycle planning and renewal programming
- Experience preparing technical documentation, reports and engineering advice
- Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and negotiation skills
- A Class C Driver's Licence

- Competitive salary from $118,937 to $138,224 per year + 12% superannuation
