As ourSenior Bridge and Structures Engineer, you'll play a key role in the long-term planning, management and improvement of Lake Macquarie's bridge and structure assets. Working within the Infrastructure Asset Management Team, you'll help ensure our bridges, major culverts, retaining walls, pedestrian bridges and other civil structures remain safe, reliable and sustainable for our growing community.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineering professional who enjoys combining technical expertise, strategic asset management and stakeholder engagement to deliver meaningful infrastructure outcomes.
This exciting role will:
- Lead the planning and management of Council's bridge and structure assets
- Develop asset management plans, lifecycle models and renewal programs that support informed investment decisions
- Provide specialist engineering advice on bridge and structural asset performance, risk and lifecycle management
- Assess existing and proposed bridge and structure assets to determine future requirements
- Develop and manage forward capital works and renewal programs aligned with Council priorities
- Provide senior technical leadership, mentoring and peer review within the team
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve effective community outcomes
- Support legislative compliance, risk management and reporting requirements relating to Council's bridge and structure assets

LET'S HEAR ABOUT YOU
You are an experienced civil or structural engineer with a strong background in bridge and structural infrastructure asset management. You enjoy solving complex problems, making evidence-based decisions and influencing positive outcomes through collaboration and technical expertise.
You can confidently manage competing priorities, communicate complex technical information in plain English and build productive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
To be successful, you will bring:
- A degree qualification in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline
- Experience in bridge and civil structures inspection, assessment, maintenance, renewal or asset management
- Knowledge of bridge and transport structure standards, including AS 5100, Austroads Guide to Bridge Technology or TfNSW standards
- Experience applying asset management, risk management and lifecycle planning principles
- Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and negotiation skills
- Experience preparing technical documentation, reports and engineering advice
- A Class C Driver's Licence
