About the Role
Georges River Council is seeking a highly capable and collaborative Senior Parking Officer to join our Regulatory Services team. Operating within a distributed leadership model, this role plays a key part in coordinating the day-to-day activities of Parking Officers, ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality parking enforcement services across the LGA. You will provide operational supervision, technical guidance, and support to team members while fostering a professional, customer-focused approach to enforcement, stakeholder engagement, and written communications. This position contributes to maintaining community confidence through fair, accurate, and consistent application of parking regulations.
The Senior Parking Officer is also responsible for supporting Council in meeting its legislative and organisational obligations, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures within required timeframes. You will help drive procedural integrity, support decision-making, and assist in continuous improvement initiatives across the team. Your Day-to-Day as a Senior Parking Officer
- Prepare and manage team rosters to ensure coverage across all required shifts, including overtime when needed
- Carry out parking patrols, issuing fines and warnings in line with legislation and Council guidelines
- Coach and support team members, reviewing fines and written work to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Assist with court matters, including preparing statements and attending court when required
- Offer clear advice to staff, stakeholders, and external partners, and support the use of new technology to improve services
- Promote a safe work environment, manage risks, stay up to date with legislation, and support after-hours response services
- Provide day-to-day leadership and support to Parking Officers, ensuring consistent decisions and compliance with laws and Council procedures
- Monitor performance and give regular feedback to maintain high standards and professionalism
What We Are Looking For
- Demonstrated experience in a regulatory role with the thorough knowledge of relevant government, parking and road-related legislation
- Leadership experience with demonstrated capability to manage priorities and mentor and motivate a team to deliver legislative and organisational requirements
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work autonomously and ensure delivery of deadlines within required timeframes
- Well-developed negotiation, conflict resolution and de-escalation skills, with the ability to manage challenging interactions calmly and professionally
- Strong digital literacy, including competency with Windows-based applications, mobile technology, and relevant field service software
- Current NSW Class C Driver’s License
This role operates within a structured six-day rotating roster (Monday to Saturday) in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award, requiring availability across core operational hours, including rostered shifts between 6:00am and 8:00pm on weekdays and 6:00am to 4:00pm on Saturdays.The successful candidate will demonstrate flexibility and reliability in working across early mornings, evenings, and weekends, and be available to undertake overtime as required to meet operational and community needs. You will thrive in a structured shift environment, maintaining high levels of performance, professionalism, and responsiveness across varied working hours.
