About the role
This is an opportunity for a qualified and experienced Landscaper or Horticulturalist who takes pride in their work to join Bayside Council. The position delivers both planned and reactive landscaping and horticultural services, including machinery operation and associated traffic management, across Council’s parks and open space assets. The role is also responsible for guiding and supporting operational staff on site to ensure all assigned works are completed safely, efficiently and to the required standard.
You can also expect to:
  • Lead small crews on site or work independently to ensure tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
  • Provide clear instructions to team members in your crew.
  • Monitor work quality and compliance with safety and environmental requirements.
  • Mentor and support less experienced staff.
  • Implement WHS procedures, traffic management plans, and site risk assessments.
  • Conduct pre-start checks, toolbox talks, and hazard identification.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, codes of practice, and Council policies.
  • Communicate professionally with residents and stakeholders on site.
  • Respond to storm damage, emergencies, and reactive service requests.
  • Provide clear explanations of works being undertaken and any access impacts.
  • Represent Council in a courteous and accountable manner.
Essential Requirements
We are looking for someone who has the following qualifications and expertise:
  • Trade Certificate, equivalent qualification (i.e., Minimum Cert III Parks & Gardens, Horticulture or Landscape).
  • Experience in a relevant field.
  • A SafeWork NSW white card (general construction induction card).
  • Current Driver’s Licence Class C.
  • Current MR Licence as required.
  • Current “Chem Use” accreditation OR willingness to obtain during probation period

Salary Range: From $70,599 - $79,071 per year plus 12% superannuation
