About the role

This position creates value for the community by leading and delivering community engagement projects that ensure community voices are heard in key Council projects, strategies and plans.

You will like making complex topics understandable, building internal and external relationships, managing multiple projects and be able to handle competing priorities/deadlines. Your strengths will lie in, listening to what the community is telling us and storytelling using data and insights in your reporting.

Working in engagement at a local government level is a challenging and rewarding career where you have the opportunity to guide our internal leaders on the best way to achieve community participation and gain quality data and insights to inform important decision making. You will also contribute to real change by building a positive engagement culture across the organisation through contributing and leading an engagement Community of Practice.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • a degree qualification in Social Science, Social Planning, Strategic Planning, Communications, Public Relations or, Public Participation or related field OR demonstrated solid contemporary experience in a similar role combined with ongoing professional development
  • a current Class C Drivers Licence
  • extensive experience in community engagement programs for a large organisation with a high public profile, with experience in Social Pinpoint and Consultation Manager (Open Point) highly desirable
  • excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to form trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • proven experience in working with communities and managing contentious projects.

Other important information

  • The salary for this position ranges from $92.9k per year to the maximum salary of $107.7k on completion of assessment of skills and performance plus12% superannuation
  • We have a permanent full-time role available
  • This role will be able to access a 9-day fortnight
  • We are able to offer hybrid and flexible working conditions for this role - 2 days from home and 3 days onsite (Wyong Administration Building)
