Senior Design Officer

The Opportunity:

As the Senior Design Officer, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality engineering designs and technical documentation for construction and civil infrastructure projects within Council's Capital Works Program. Leveraging your technical expertise, you will provide specialist engineering advice to both internal and external stakeholders, guiding projects through complex design challenges from concept to completion.

Working collaboratively across Council and with external partners, you will lead the investigation and development of innovative, practical design solutions, assess the feasibility of major infrastructure projects, and ensure designs meet operational, regulatory, and community needs.

About you:

To be successful in this role, you will have tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or Design, or significant experience in a senior civil infrastructure design role. You will bring strong technical knowledge and practical experience in:

• Designing roads, drainage, public spaces, cycleways and recreation facilities.
• Applying relevant engineering standards and design principles.
• Using engineering software and technology to develop effective design solutions.
• Developing practical, buildable designs using civil construction practices.
• Preparing quantity calculations and cost estimates.

In addition to the above you'll be organised, able to manage competing priorities, and deliver quality outcomes on time and within budget. Experience using Civil 3D, Stringer, Benchmark and Microsoft Project will also be highly valued.

Benefits:

This is a full-time, permanent role working a 35-hour week, with a base salary range of $102,017 - $122,269 per year based on demonstrated experience and qualifications + allowances + 12% super.
