Safety and Wellbeing Specialist
How you’ll make an impact
We have an opportunity for a Safety and Wellbeing Specialist to join our People and Performance team.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced safety professional who is passionate about creating a safe, healthy and supportive workplace and wants to make a genuine impact across the organisation.
As our Safety and Wellbeing Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting and strengthening Council’s work health and safety, injury management, return to work and employee wellbeing functions. You’ll work closely with leaders and employees across Council to provide practical advice, strengthen our systems and build organisational capability.
You will coordinate and continuously improve Council’s Work Health and Safety Management System and Injury Management Framework, oversee workplace inspections, investigations and audits, and ensure hazards, risks and corrective actions are effectively identified and managed.
A key part of the role will be supporting injury management and recovery at work. You will act as Council’s Return to Work Coordinator, work closely with our insurer and health professionals, and coordinate return-to-work plans and workers compensation matters to support safe and sustainable recovery at work.
You’ll also help Council take a proactive approach to workplace safety and wellbeing by analysing incident and claims trends, coordinating safety education and training, supporting the Health and Safety Committee, and helping identify and manage psychosocial hazards and risks.
This is a permanent full-time position working 35 hours per week.
$72,987.00 - $93,428.00 gross per annum, plus 12% superannuation, with commencing salary dependent on qualifications, skills and experience.
What you’ll bring to our team
For us, safety is about much more than compliance. We’re looking for someone who can help us continue building a positive safety culture through strong relationships, practical education and genuine engagement with our people.
You’ll enjoy spending time with our teams, understanding their work and helping employees and leaders build their safety knowledge and confidence. You’ll be equally comfortable facilitating a training session, discussing a risk with an operational team, investigating an incident or getting into the detail of safety documentation.
