Position Description: Resource and Waste Plant Operator

About the Role

You will work as part of Council's Resource & Waste team operating plant and equipment at waste facilities across the region.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Safely operate Council plant, vehicles and equipment including loaders, excavators, backhoes and compactors.
  • Carry out waste management and landfill operations as directed.
  • Complete daily plant inspections and report any faults, damage or maintenance requirements.
  • Follow work instructions and work cooperatively with supervisors and team members.
  • Assist members of the public in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Complete timesheets, plant records and other basic paperwork.
  • Participate in toolbox talks and safety activities.
  • Follow Council's safety procedures and work safely at all times.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Experience operating plant and equipment, or the willingness and ability to learn.
  • NSW White Card (Construction Induction Card).
  • Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical fitness to undertake the requirements of the role.
  • Basic computer skills to complete timesheets and workplace records.
  • Current Class C Driver Licence.
  • Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain.

Desirable

  • Experience operating loaders, excavators, backhoes or similar plant is highly regarded.
  • Traffic Control accreditation or willingness to obtain
  • Hepatitis and Tetanus vaccinations or willingness to obtain.
  • Certificate III in Waste Management or willingness to obtain.
