About the Opportunity

At
Port Macquarie Hastings Council every employee plays a part in ensuring we work together to achieve positive outcomes for our community. To help us achieve this we are currently have a full time temporary opportunity for a motivated Property Officer to join our team. In this diverse and fast-paced role, you'll contribute to the management and strategic use of Council's property portfolio, helping ensure our property assets deliver the greatest benefit for our community now and into the future.

Our
Property Officers engage with a wide array of stakeholders, including outdoor
dining vendors, fitness trainers, coffee vans; manage over 300 agreements and
oversee more than 1200 properties, spanning residential, commercial, and
community sectors as well as being the trustee for approximately 200 Crown
properties, engaging with issues such as Native Title and Aboriginal land
claims.

On
a typical day you will:

  • Coordinate and Administer Land Management
    Actions:
    Utilise various software
    systems to coordinate and administer the activities related to the
    management of the property and agreement portfolios.
  • Negotiate and Prepare Agreements: You will deal with customers in person and on
    the phone to negotiate and prepare a variety of occupancy agreements on
    Council owned land and Council managed Crown land, including leases and
    licences, ensuring they align with legislative requirements and Council
    objectives.
  • Oversee Tenant and Occupant Relations: Ensure the smooth operational management of
    occupant agreements on Council owned and managed properties, fostering
    positive relationships and resolving issues as they arise.
  • Administer Property Portfolio:Day to day administration of the property
    agreements including calculating billing for rents and CPI and bonds,
    liaison with various specialist staff to answer enquiries and ensure
    compliance.

We're looking for someone who thrives in a busy and diverse environment. Experience in property leasing, conveyancing, property or land acquisition, licensing, paralegal work, or a similar field will be highly regarded.

To succeed in this role, you'll bring strong attention to detail, excellent record-keeping practices, confidence using a range of software systems, exceptional written communication skills, strong organisational abilities, and the capacity to juggle competing priorities and deadlines.

Remuneration and Benefits

Employment Type: Full time, Temporary (until 25 November 2027) 35 hours per week

Salary (exclusive of super): In the range of $90,760 to $101,588 depending on skills and experience
