Plant Operator (Parks and Natural Areas)
We're looking for a motivatedPlant Operatorto join our Parks & Natural Areas team. If you enjoy working with a great crew, take pride in maintaining parks and open spaces, and have experience operating horticultural plant and equipment, we'd love to hear from you.

What you'll be doing
As a Plant Operator, you'll play an important role in delivering high-quality maintenance across the Sutherland Shire by:
- Operating a range of horticultural plant and equipment, including ride-on mowers, tractors, slashers, wood chippers and chainsaws.
- Mowing, brush cutting and edging parks and reserves.
- Maintaining gardens through planting, pruning, mulching, watering, fertilising and weed control.
- Assisting with minor landscaping and bushland maintenance.
- Loading, transporting and unloading materials and equipment.
- Conducting daily pre-start inspections and maintaining equipment.
- Working safely while following WHS procedures, traffic management requirements and environmental standards.
- Reporting asset defects and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
You'll be someone who enjoys hands-on work, values teamwork and takes pride in delivering quality outcomes.
To be successful you'll have:
- A currentMR (Medium Rigid) Driver Licence.
- A currentWhite Card.
- Experience operating horticultural plant and equipment.
- A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- The ability to plan your work, manage your workload and deliver quality results.
Highly regarded:
- Certificate II in Horticulture, Arboriculture or similar.
- Traffic Control qualifications.
- ChemCert (AQF3) or equivalent.

- Package:$67,397 - $75,483 gross p.a. plus 12% superannuation. Salary will be determined based on the skills and experience of successful candidates.
- Hours of work:Permanent Full Time 38 hours per week with a 9 day fortnight.
