Planning and Certification Coordinator
About the Role
Our Subdivision and Development Certification Team has an exciting opportunity for a suitably experienced professional to join the Team as a Planning and Certification Coordinator. You will be responsible for providing professional advice, guidance, mentoring and monitoring the workload of a small team of town planners and certifiers in assessing Development Applications for subdivision and small lot housing developments within the Hills Shire Council’s Growth Precincts and undertaking post consent certification work. We are looking for confident people leaders who can deliver a vision of excellence and work with their team to deliver much needed housing throughout the Local Government Area.

What you will be doing:
- Manage a team of professionals assessing development applications for subdivision, small lot housing and other development applications as required under the EP&A Act as well as issuing post consent certification including CDCs and CCs and OCs
- Control, allocate and monitor workload within the team
- Provide customer service to applicants and manage escalated matters within area of responsibility
- Coordinate projects and key initiatives to improve business and service delivery processes
- Provide advice for land development enquiries and implications of development on other parts of the business
- Manage, assess, determine and prepare reports on development applications for subdivision and small lot housing development, ensuring it is carried out in accordance with relevant legislation and standards
- Provide comments on behalf of Council for Planning Proposals, Legislative Changes and other matters
What are we seeking in our new team member:
- Bach Degree Town Planning or related industry discipline and/or 5+ yrs related industry experience.
- White Card - General Construction Induction
- Current Class C Drivers Licence
- Expertise and understanding of development principles and the development or building industry
- High level communication skills and experience preparing reports, correspondence and presentation on complex matters, within established timeframes
- Strong analytical and organisational skills to meet deadlines on a daily basis
- Highly developed interpersonal, communication and community engagement skills with demonstrated conflict resolution and customer service skills to liaise with all levels of internal and external stakeholders
