Patching Truck Labourer
The opportunity
Federation Council is seeking a motivated individual to join our Engineering Services team as a Patching Truck Labourer. In this role, you will assist with the operation of Council's road patching truck and other plant items in a competent and efficient manner. Your work will directly support our road maintenance and construction teams in their commitment to developing and maintaining a safe and efficient road and transport network.
In this role you will, but not limited to:
- Provide labour and assist in the operation and maintenance of the patching truck and other construction plant to construct, maintain, and repair Council road infrastructure, including potholes, cracking, and emulsion seals.
- Undertake Traffic Control Management duties as required.
- Accurately record information on all timesheets, pre-start checklists, and suitable Council software systems.
- Assist with ensuring the stock of consumables for the Patching Truck is maintained and advise the store on requirements.
- Check, maintain, and install roadside furnishings such as signs, guideposts, and guardrails when required.
- Load, unload, and secure all stores, equipment, and materials, ensuring the load on all plant is within the specified weight range.
- Operate and carry out maintenance of the patching unit chains, conveyor, and emulsion system.
- Comply with NSW Temporary Traffic Management requirements to ensure all patching work job sites are safe and compliant through spotter duties, formal traffic control, and setting up warning signs or lights.
- Fill in as the Patching Truck Operator when required to cover absences and safely deliver plant, equipment, and materials to job sites.
- Perform other tasks and duties as directed by the Supervisor which are within the limits of your skill, competence, and training.
Essential key criteria to be addressed in applications
- Hold a current and valid Medium Rigid (MR) Licence.
- Proven experience in providing labouring skills to a high standard.
- Relevant experience and sound knowledge of sealed road construction and maintenance methods and materials.
- Demonstrated computer skills and use of various platforms.
- Proven ability to follow standard procedures and complete duties to an agreed level as outlined in a works program.
- Demonstrated ability to show initiative in solving problems, improving methods, and productivity along with the ability to seek guidance and advice where required.

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Council’s policies and conditions of employment. The salary is commencing at $30.80 per hour with progression up to $33.99 per hour dependent upon skills and experience.
