The City of Perth Parks Team is responsible for the preservation and management of 120 hectares of open parkland, including reserves, heritage gardens, pocket parks, and streetscapes, all in a CBD environment. 

This position will actively assist with the establishment and maintenance of day-to-day horticultural, landscaping, and turf management while operating under the general direction of the Team Leader.

As the Parks Operator, you will support the City by:

  • Operating a wide range of horticultural equipment and machinery, with the understanding that Occupational Health and Safety is your highest priority.
  • Providing feedback on any faults/accidents or machinery maintenance requirements to the Supervisor or Team Leader.
  • Supporting the philosophy and practice of rotating with other team members to ensure a multi-skilled approach.
  • Assist with the preparation and planting of garden beds and landscapes as required.
  • Mowing, brush-cutting and edging of parks, reserves and open spaces as required.

Essential Criteria

  • Knowledge and experience in current horticulture practices and use of a wide range of horticultural equipment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of safe working practices and Work Health & Safety issues.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • ‘C’ Class drivers licence.
  • Construction Induction Card (White / Blue Card).
  • Cert II or higher in Horticulture (desirable).
  • ‘MR’ Class Driver’s License (desirable).
