The City is seeking a Building Surveyor to ensure that the City meets its objectives for the assessment, preparation, and issuing of permits, certificates, and licences, as required under the relevant statutes, City of Perth Local Laws, policies guidelines, and procedures.

Reporting to the Principal Building Surveyor, this position will support the City by: 

  • Contributing positively to the effective operation of the Building Surveyor Team, establishment of work programs, formulation of policy, and implementation of procedures
  • Preparing accurate and compliant certificates and permits which meet the requirements of the Building Act, other relevant statutes, Local Laws, and City of Perth policies, guidelines, and procedures
  • Reviewing and advising on the certification Building Code of Australia (BCA), performance-based and deemed to satisfy submissions.
  • Consulting, advising, liaising, and negotiating with senior professional building consultants and practitioners to resolve technical issues in all aspects of multi-discipline development proposals, approvals and clearances

You will have knowledge and experience with the Building Code of Australia-related Australian Standards, relevant building approval processes, and statutory requirements with a demonstrated ability to systematically assess complex submissions for compliance with the Building Act, Building Regulations, and Building Standards.
