Your Position:
Burwood
Council is seeking a proactive and creative Media and Communications Officer to
support our media and communications efforts by promoting the Burwood Local
Government Area (LGA) through event coverage, social media content creation,
and day-to-day communications tasks.
This hands-on role will involve working flexibly
across digital platforms to engage the community, while providing real-time
coverage of Council events and activities. You will also lead the organisation’s internal
communications function.
You will
have experience creating content for digital platforms, including social media
posts, photography, video editing and graphic
design.
Strong
writing skills, the ability to draft media releases and event summaries, and
solid interpersonal skills are key to this role as well as the ability to work
flexibly outside regular business hours to attend Council events when required.
You’ll have

Key
Requirements:
- A degree in communications, public relations,
marketing, or a related discipline - Demonstrated
ability to create engaging content for digital platforms, including social
media posts, photography and video editing. - A
high level of written and verbal communication skills, with proven experience drafting
media releases, social media updates, speeches and event summaries. - Excellent
interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and work
collaboratively with team members and external stakeholders. - Proficiency
in using digital tools and software, such as Microsoft Office Suite, social media platforms, and graphic design, photo
and video editing tools such as Canva, Capcut and Adobe Premiere Pro. - Flexibility
to work outside regular office hours when required to attend Council events and
provide media support. - A current Australian C Class Driver Licence
- Willingness to complete a National Police
History Check - Willingness to complete a pre-employment
police and medical assessment
