Mechanical Fitter
Your New Role:
As a Mechanical Fitter in our Water and Sewer team, you'll help keep Kempsey Shire's essential water and wastewater infrastructure operating safely and reliably. Working alongside a skilled and supportive team, you'll use your trade skills to maintain, repair and improve the mechanical assets that deliver vital services to our community.
In this role, you will:
- Install, maintain, repair and upgrade mechanical equipment across Council's water and wastewater networks.
- Perform preventative maintenance, fault finding and repairs on pumps, motors, valves and treatment plant equipment.
- Carry out fabrication, machining and general mechanical fitting tasks to support operational requirements.
- Inspect and assess mechanical assets to identify maintenance and renewal needs.
- Work safely in a range of environments, including confined spaces and at heights.
- Respond to breakdowns and participate in a rotating after-hours on-call roster (maximum one week in every four weeks).
- Complete work to industry standards while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality and customer service.
- Use maintenance management systems and mobile technology to manage work orders and record completed tasks.
- Contribute to a collaborative, multi-skilled team committed to delivering reliable water and wastewater services.

About You:
You're a trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter who enjoys solving problems, working with mechanical equipment and being part of a collaborative team. You have experience maintaining and repairing pumps, mechanical plant or industrial equipment and are committed to delivering quality workmanship while maintaining a strong focus on safety.
You thrive in a hands-on environment, can work independently when required and are equally comfortable contributing as part of a multi-skilled team. You're reliable, adaptable and take pride in delivering high standards of work.
To be successful, you'll bring:
- A trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter or in a relevant mechanical engineering trade.
- A current Class C Driver Licence and White Card.
