Responsible for assisting in the implementation of the City’s winter tree planting program for parks, reserves and streetscapes, you will need to be able to make informed technical and operational decisions and provide support, leadership and advice to staff members and apprentices as required.

Works will primarily be comprised of tree planting, staking and tying trees, installation of water wells or mulch bowls, weeding, watering and minor formative pruning.

You will be required to work to daily maintenance schedules and safely operate of a variety of horticultural equipment.

To be considered for this role, you must address the following selection criteria as part of your online application:

  1. Trade Certificate Horticulture or the possession of relevant experience in a Parks maintenance environment appropriate to position requirements
  2. Current ‘MR’ class driver’s licence
  3. Construction Induction Training (White Card)
  4. Sound communication and interpersonal skills
  5. Knowledge of workplace safety and health regulations
  6. Relevant practical experience in landscape / amenity horticulture industry.

This position offers a gross wage of $1,363 per week (incorporating all allowances and penalty rates), and:

  • 11% superannuation with the option to co-contribute up to a further 5%
